Transformation & Redesign

The $264 Million transformation of the Convention Center is complete!  The project included a new exterior which provides greater natural light throughout the building, wider concourses for improved traffic flow, the addition of new outdoor event spaces (a rooftop terrace and 2.5 acre park at the entrance of the building), upgraded meeting rooms with new technology, replacement of the building systems, and the introduction of a redesigned Queen City Ballroom.  

Know the space

Every element of the First Financial Center was designed with the experience in mind, featuring:

  • Gross Square Feet: 750,000, including setup and support space
  • Exhibition Space: 195,000 contiguous square feet
  • Cincinnatus Ballroom: 40,000 Square feet, one of the largest in the Midwest
  • Queen City Ballroom: 16,930 square feet to comfortably host smaller groups
  • New Queen City Rooftop Terrace with city skyline views
  • Meeting space: 39 renovated breakout rooms with flexibility to accommodate 18 to 5,000.
  • Loading Dock: 17 berths and three semi-truck portals that lead directly to exhibition space
  • Full-service banquet kitchen: 5,000 served in a single seating
  • Levels: 3, multi-level concourse provides easy access to exhibit space, meeting rooms, and ballroom levels.
  • Skywalk access to the brand new, 700-room Marriott Headquarters Hotel (coming Fall 2028)
  • Extended outdoor space with seamless flow to the new Elm Street Plaza
  • Ample branding opportunities inside and out with LED signage outside of meeting rooms and a huge 76' LED wall
  • Ample parking with multiple garages surrounding the center, including a new $28M garage across the street with 780 spaces.

1.    Construction is underway on the $27 million upgrade the former 780-space Whex Garage 
2.    Construction work is anticipated to completed summer 2026
